Kristen Schaal’s persona might best be described as “Slyly Naïve.” A projected cluelessness or bewilderment is actually a slightly passive-aggressive mask for an acute take on the world, betraying the timing and mastery of gesture befitting a world-class physical comedian.
Kristen was the winner of the 2006 Aspen Comedy Festival Award for Best Comedian and also won the NY Comedy Festival’s 2nd annual Andy Kaufman award for creativity in comedy. She can be seen every week on HBO’s hit show Flight of the Conchords, where she plays the band’s creepily obsessive, one-woman “fan-base,” Mel.
